About Me

I'm Paying it Forward

I believe in using the drums as a tool to make people better all-around musicians and more confident in their everyday lives. When I started playing the drums at 8 years old, a new world of opportunities opened up to me. I've since been fortunate enough to play at must-see New York venues with multiple local bands including SOBs, Knitting Factory, The Bitter End, Arlene's Grocery, Rockwood Music Hall, and Bowery Electric, which has given me real-world experience to match technical skill. I believe in teaching my students the multi-faceted competence to make their own way on the music scene, which starts with knowing how to play and continues through insightful communication with all players in the business - from fellow musicians to engineers to bouncers.

Growing up in a small NYC apartment, my parents initially balked when I told them I wanted to learn how to play drums. Without their support and commitment I would have never found my teacher, who I am still friends with to this day, and my life would be completely different. Eventually I graduated to playing my own kit in my room at home, which I also have to thank my neighbors for. I am a product of professional educators, private instructors, the city's unique music culture, and an undying love for all things percussion. I teach so I can pass these gifts and good fortune along to the next generation and ensure the world is never short of top-notch drummers.
